We are considering the possibility of using optical disks for archiving
on our VAX cluster (8650 + 8550 + HSC50 + 12*RA81 etc).

So far, I have encountered

    a. the OSI LD 1200 disk drive, with Emulex controller, running
       Perceptics software

    b. the Optimem 1000 12" optical disk drive, also running Perceptics
       software

    c. the Hitachi 301 series 12" optical disk subsystem (don't know about
       software)

I would be very interested to hear of anyone's experiences with laser disks and
VAX/VMS - both of the hardware, and software.

My thanks in anticipation of lots of response!
