                  NONLINEAR NUMERICAL METHODS AND

                       RATIONAL APPROXIMATION 

                  University of Antwerp (Belgium) 

The conference will take place on the new campus of UIA, one of the
three schools of the University of Antwerp (Belgium) from Monday April
20 (day of arrival) till Friday April 24, 1987. 

The conference will focus on the use of rational functions in different 
fields of Numerical Analysis with sections on
- Pad\'e approximation
- rational interpolation
- rational approximation
- extrapolation
- continued fractions
- orthogonal polynomials
and their applications.

Several one-hour lectures will be held by specialists in the field and a
limited number of short communications (20 minutes) will be accepted.
The list of invited speakers includes G.A. Baker (Los Alamos), C. Brezinski
(Lille), W.B. Gragg (Kentucky), P.R. Graves-Morris (Bradford), M. Gutknecht 
(Zurich), W.B. Jones (Boulder), J. Meinguet (Louvain-la-Neuve), E. Saff
(Tampa), L.N. Trefethen (New York), R. Varga (Kent), H. Waadeland
(Trondheim). Participants who like to present a paper should submit a title 
and a short abstract (at most 1 page) not later than December 1, 1986.

It is the intention of the organisers to publish selected papers in
