Subject: ACM/SIGGRAPH Career Study

From: Stephan R. Keith, ACM/SIGGRAPH Local Groups Coordinator

Subject 1: ACM/SIGGRAPH Education Committee Questionnaire
Subject 2: ACM/SIGGRAPH Education Committee Role Models Paper

Judy Brown, ACM/SIGGRAPH Education Committee and I are working with
other individuals to construct a SIGGRAPH Computer Graphics Careers
Handbook. The handbook is to provide career guidance for high school
students, college students and professionals investigating work in
computer graphics.

The handbook will contain information regarding established categories of
computer graphics educational requirements, college curricula, role models
and other information as appropriate for career guidance.

We are seeking professionals in the computer graphics industry to enhance
the information that will be in the careers handbook with pragmatic,
real-life professional information.

The first wave of such documents will be sent to ACM/SIGGRAPH Local Groups.
To get a better distribution of individuals in Computer Graphics, others
are invited to participate, and the basis for this transmission.

One section will be a statistical analysis of demographic information
provided by individuals responding to a questionnaire. Another section
will consist of role model papers, about two pages long, describing
a professional's getting into, and working in, his or her particular
application area of computer graphics.

If you wish to participate, please send a self-addressed stamped envelope
(39 cents postage in the United States) to:

	Stephan R. Keith
	ACM/SIGGRAPH Careers Study
	Sterling Software
	1121 San Antonio Road
	Palo Alto, CA 94303

Instructions and other information are detailed in the Questionnaire and
Role Model document.

We thank you for your consideration.

Steve Keith
