NCI TO TEST DISINFECTANT AGAINST AIDS VIRUS

Alcide -- a sterilant and disinfectant used in laboratories against single-cell
  organisms -- will be tested against suspect AIDS virus HTLV-III, Alcide      
  Corp's. J. Young said 10/23... Recent identification of HTLV-III in saliva of
  AIDS victims prompted need for effective sterilization tool... Alcide Corp.  
  is working with NCI to identify agents that inactivate the AIDS virus...     
  NCI's  R. Gallo -- who first identified HTLV-III -- will oversee the tests.

HERPES: Young said Alcide is also testing -- in Europe -- topical application  
  of its disinfectants LD and EXPOR against herpes simplex viruses.
