The first step on your path to enlightenment should be to remove
windows 95 from your system. fdisk under linux will accomplish this
nicely.
Hope this helps,
Russell

Since everyone else is being less than helpful, here are some pointers.
1. Read the networking FAQ. I found out from there. This will come with
any good installation of Linux.
2. It will basically tell you to
a. configure /etc/hosts with information like DNS servers and
stuff
b. use dip to start networking. This is pretty simple, you just
create a script (the ones that come with it are good for
copying and modifying).
when you've done this (and it all depends on how your ISP sets
things up) try
dip foo.dip
3. Before you panic, make sure that SLIP and/or PPP networking options
are compiled into your kernel. It's been a while since I looked at
distributions so I'm not sure if they ship that way any more.
4. Read the networking FAQ.
5. SLIP with Linux I've managed to do reasonably easily. SLIP with Win95
still eludes me. Maybe one day I'll spend the hours required to do
it.

That will give you a better unstanding of what you are doing and will be doing. Linux is so different from Win95. Don't expect anything like a 'wizard' to help you doing the setup. Be prepare to read tons of document and don't hestitate to ask. BTW, you're wise to use Linux! Old Hui

However, prior to do this, you'll need to setup your networking stuff , otherwise 'dip' will return 'unknown server error' . The good part is once Linux is configured for dial-up tcp/ip it's a lot faster then any windoze I've seen.. Mike
