UNE TRADUCTION FRANCAISE EST DISPONIBLE SUR DEMANDE Many people on the Net get very rude when someone writes to complain about terrible service from a company -- even when the evidence behind the complaint far exceeds the anecdotal. For this important demographic group, there's an opportunity at the end of this message. For the rest of you, a firm warning: clearNET is terrible. The customer service is not only poor but insulting. You might well be lectured to -- told your problems are your fault or that there's no guarantee that networks operate properly 100% of the time only to find out -- ten calls later -- that they did not program your phone properly. You might well be asked a series of irrelevant questions and not permitted to interrupt to say that you already know what the problem is. You will be made to wait 30 minutes or more for tech support. You will not get the services you paid for: text messages, voice mail and faxes will not come through. Even offers to compensate you will not be followed up. If you are businessperson, the decision to choose MIKE service from clearNET could be disastrous. One of Canada's most prestigious universities was promoting clearNET to its alumni. Its alumni association has received quite a few complaints, says a spokesperson. The association realizes clearNET service is "appalling," and the school will cease the arrangement unless standards of quality can be guaranteed, she said. Having said this, you may not agree. If you'd like a MIKE phone -- Motorola i500 plus -- that is ready to initialize for ClearNET service, send me an e-mail at legaltranslator at earthlink dot net, and I'll sell it to you for $40, instead of $50-99 plus tax. Your package will include a charger, and quite possibly, a second, thin, battery. I am not affiliated with, nor do I have any employment interest in, any telecommunications company. R. Adam Wugalter
