I quote from the Bell leaflet "Effective February 1, 1996 all residential and single line customers will have the benefit of choosing who install or repairs their telephone wiring and jacks" I wonder if they have a special employee who does translation for these things. Bell guy: We need a way to tell the steenking customers that from now on it will cost them about $90 for new jack installation, or they can hire someone else to do it Translator: "All customers will have the benefit...." <puke> Anyhoo. I went to a Bell place and picked up the little Do-It-Yourself guide. It says helpful thing like "If you are experiencing a condition fo NO DIALTONE, the first thing you must do is determine whether or not you have a working telephone set" Ok, seriously now. I wouldn't bother hiring anyone do do it, I would do it myself. Just go down to the hardware store and pick up a jack and wire and connect it to your phone box in the basement and run it ot your jack and voila. The only thing is that you might have to find someone with a staple gun, one of those big ones that are soo fun to play with. If you're in an appartment Bell is still responsible for getting the lines to your main phone jack. (If you want more though you have to wire it yourself) Hey, maybe we could have a wiring party at your place! Dana (mabye 12 hrs of sleep a night is a tad too much) :-} -- -- Make money fast!
