YD> Hello Allison, YD> Your previous message about Welcome to Quebec/repressed liberties said AM> See there schools now are no longer English establishments AM> and when they try to get any proof that they were taught in the AM> English school system they are told they have no records leaving them AM> with no proof. In these cases this is not fair. YD> When you go to the school that shoudn't pose a problem. In the case of YD> my wife for example, they accepted Antony no problem and since we YD> could not locate the necessary paper (it WAS more then 25 years ago <g>) they then made us sign a few papers and they THEMSELVES requested YD> the necessary information from the QC autorities. My wife was trying to stress that the fact that most of the former English elemetary schools in the N.D.G area are now French (MCSC) and since that these schools are now French, the Government arbitrarily decides that since these schools are presently French they were always French, leaving the people who once attended these schools without recourse. The school commission refuses to open their archive and it take a court order or threat of lawsuit to get any kind of action from this. We know of more than just a few of our friends that who have had this problem. My wife's uncle is a Principle and j=her aunt is a Secretary in one of the schools. We also know a well placed person in the school commision who can acknowledge this fact. YD> Perhaps your friends are not or were not aware that they could have YD> the school ask for the document themselves. Saves a lot of headache. See the above. YD> do not know how the system works. I'm not saying it's their fault just YD> that it's not as bad as it looks. AM> Also alot of people don't have their letter AM> of elegibility, their parents had them but they either got lost thrown AM> away or misplaced. The government doesn't issue you new ones just AM> like that it takes a while and alot of aggravating YD> Yes that much is true, DON'T loose that paper otherwise it's quite a YD> pain to get another one. This is only in the case of those who have had these documents issued to them. People from out of the province have more of a hassle trying to register their children in English schools. Another point would be the fact that American's who getr transfered to this province are obliged to send their kids to French schools. Do you think that is fair. Ron
