     If the Palestinians resort to civil disobedience and passive
resistance, they will have a state within a couple of years.  The
same was true in 1967, 1973, and every year since then.  The lessons
of Mahatma Ghandi and Martin Luther King are clear.
     But it just doesn't seem to be in their DNA to do anything other
than respond with violence to anything that displeases them.
     Additionally, it's not clear that getting a Palestinian state,
alongside Israel, really represents the wishes of most Palestinians.
It certainly doesn't represent the wishes of Hezbollah, Iran, and
Syria, who sponsor Hamas and other terrorist groups.  And no amount
of civil disobedience will lead Israel to just disappear.
