The idea is to crosspost something that gets people angry, and creates a long thread in which more heat than light is created. The choice of groups is just as important if not more so than the text of the post. I don't know if it ever happens but it is possible for one person to post a right-wing troll to groups in which it will anger left wingers and vice-versa, all in the same day. I certainly believe that many trolls do not agree with their own posts. The troll doesn't want to convince you that his post is the truth; he wants to enjoy your anger.
