I just read in today's Boston Globe how a 300 lbs Rhode Island woman got $100,000 in restitution and a job taking care of retarded children because she was denied this job on account of her weight. (Boston Globe, Saturday, Nov. 13,1993 pg.4) Evidently, extreme obesity is now considered a handicap under the Americans with Disabilities Act (but it's determined to be a handicap on a case by case basis.)
