It doesn't end. It just moves around. Californians, for example, stole that
state from the Mexicans, and more "Californians" moved in from everywhere
else. Everybody was happy as clams right up to the Great Dust Bowl, which
brought half the Oakies in the modern world across the desert to California.
They picked peaches, dodged boards being swung by the locals, spawned still
more "new" Californians who grew up to look down their noses at everybody
else... even though they're still just Oakies, once removed. Now that Nissan
is probably moving headquarters to Middle Tennessee, some of those former
Oakies (now probably three times removed... maybe more) are all atwitter at
having to move to Electric Bubba Land. Those who favor keeping jobs will
make the trek, wearing shirts made from processed falafel and elderberry
leaves, explaining how much better it used to be.

And, thus, will begin the next great culture clash... sort of in reverse.

All this said, I can hardly wait for the video of the first Mardi Gras
Parade in Utah!

Those examples are just in the states... but it's a microcosm, of sorts, of
what goes on everywhere. Folks move to a new town, pee in every local bowl
of Cheerios they can find and wait to bitch and moan about the newcomers who
follow them.

Said by one who actually knows what "Froggy Went A Courtin" was really all
about. ;^)
