Also spracht Melissa <Melissa9Z@Zmho.net>:

And yet, when people question you, they're "theocrats" or supportive of
"demagogues". That last one is interesting since a demagogue is someone
who makes use of popular prejudices and false claims in order to promote
an idea or to gain power. By making assertions that you so far have been
unable to back up with some raw data (what percentage of what countries
does the RCC own? Where?), you definitely have the appearance of someone
using a dislike of the Catholic church to promote an ideal - but what
idea, exactly?

Ah. So, does the charedi community in Israel and the imams in Iran
promote this exact same ideal for political power as well, or are there
different reasons for this as well? It might interest (or distress) you to
know that "be fruitful and multiply" is one of the 613 Jewish mitzvot (see
http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/source/rambam613.html - #212). Is this a
conspiracy to gain power? For whom? Over whom?

Looking backwards, one might remember that Christians have been
following the rule to "be fruitful and multiply" long before they were in
a position to hold power (think Rome before Constantine), ditto for Jews
and Moslems.

Look, Melissa, it might be inconvenient for you to look at the role of
the RCC (and all churches in general, really) in a broader light, but
there are issues involved that cannot be answered simply by slinging
slogans.

Spoken like a true, well, demagogue. Sorry, but if the shoe fits ...
