Please note that this is NOT literally a separate apartment,
but is certainly comparable to a studio or 1-BR in its amount
of space and privacy.

In 3-BR Somerville apartment near a dozen bus and subway routes going
all over town. 10-30 min commute to most of Boston, Cambridge,
and Somerville. The location is particularly good for a medical
or grad student as it is near routes CT2, 85, 86, ... to the 
universities and hospitals.

Free parking on-street, no permit needed; can keep your out-of-town
registration. Laundry down the street, plenty of shopping and
other amenities nearby.

Share kitchen, living room, bathroom with one female tenant
(US-raised Asian) who lives far at the other end of the apartment.
Utilities run about $20/month for electricity, and gas for the stove.
The landlord pays for heat and hot water, which amounts to a discount
of about $80-100 per month during the cold weather season.

The space for rent consists of two adjoining rooms which can be
connected to form one huge and rather private space, more like
a separate apartment than a pair of rooms. The rooms can also be
separated to form a bedroom + study. There is a lot of flexibility
in configuring the doors, entrances, and hallway around the rooms
for greater or lesser separation from the rest of the apartment, as
preferred.
