With cable modems you're connected 24x7.  MediaOne's terms of service can
be found at http://www.ne.mediaone.net/customercare/agreement.html.  There
doesn't seem to be an explicit limit on activity, but see section 11. 
It's possible that if there were "excessive" activity they might conclude
you were running a business and charge you for a commercial account.
