NEARnet Announces Commercial Routing Option The New England Academic and Research Network (NEARnet) is pleased to announce a commercial routing option for its members. NEARnet members who select commercial routing will have access to all CIX and ANS CO+RE networks without concern for the usage restrictions of the NSFnet AUP. NEARnet has signed agreements with ANS and CIX and was instrumental in bringing them to an agreement to interconnect. Service will be available after the ANS to CIX connection is completed in early November of 1992. NEARnet will be interchanging traffic with the CIX via the high-speed ANS CO+RE T3 network service. NEARnet members who select commercial routing will be able to participate in commercial activities with _both_ CIX and ANS CO+RE networks while still enjoying NEARnet's renowned high performance Internet services. Commercial Routing is available immediately for a small incremental fee. The commercial routing fee provides for additional NEARnet infrastructure, CIX expenses, and ANS CO+RE transit charges. NEARnet members may have one or more IP network numbers commercially routed for the single fee, and are free to route network numbers independently to best serve their needs. For more information, send a message to "nearnet-join@nic.near.net" or call us at (617) 873-8730. John Curran NEARnet Staff
