For Immediate Release
Boston Computer Society's first ever DEMOLITION DERBY
Please don't think we're too politically incorrect - we just thought
this sounded like fun. Everyone is invited to pick up a sledgehammer
and work out their frustrations on some old mainframes and minis. Join
us after work, Thursday, October 29 at the Courtyard at One Kendall
Square. Five minutes of guilt free aggression for $5. Demolition will
begin at 3:30 and go on until 6:30 or Miller time whichever comes first.
The computers will be obsolete technology that the landfills wouldn't
take. The proceeds will go toward the BCS Public Service Committee, the
arm of the BCS serving the non-profit community.
The Boston Computer Society was established in 1977 and is the world's
largest personal computer user group with over 24,000 members in 50
countries. It is a non-profit educational organization based in
Cambridge and was founded on the principle of "users helping users."
The Public Service Committee matches BCS volunteers with non-profits
needing computer consulting and sponsors a variety of community
oriented events.
So come roll up your sleeves and become one with the universe. Give a
whack for a good cause.
