Topic: A Model for Evaluating CASE Tools

Speaker: Dr. Eric Bush

Date: Tuesday, October 27, 1992 - 7:00 pm

Place: Continental Resources / CTA Building
	  175 Middlesex Turnpike
	  Bedford, MA

The speaker will present a unified model of CASE tool capabilities, called The
Big Picture, which can be used to consistently represent the functionality of
any commercially available tool. The model consists of a set of 3-D pictures
for graphically portraying tool architecture, together with a set of 11 criteria
for evaluating those architectures. Examples of comparisons between Intersolv,
Texas Instruments, Oracle, KnowledgeWare, S-Cubed, and Bachman will be used to
illustrate the application of the criteria.

About The Speaker:

Dr. Bush is currently Chief Scientist at VIASOFT, Inc. He was previously
Executive Director of the Rosetta Stone Consortium, which he founded in 1991.
He was the founder and Chairman of Language Technology, Inc. from 1981-1991,
and is now widely regarded as the father of re-engineering for his
contributions to the field during that period. He is an internationally known
researcher, author, and lecturer whose speaking style and highly intuitive use
of graphics has made the science of software accessible to laymen the world
over. He received his Ph.D from Harvard University in 1980, and his B.A.
and M.A. from Ohio State University in 1973.
