Actually, that may be the case where you are (Canada?).  However, I believe
Janice is still in the SF Bay Area where both such old vehicles are roughly
the same market value.

On the basis of the vehicles having the same market value, I believe that 
Janice was commenting on vehicles being indicia of personality, rather than 
affluence or potential affluence.  Indeed, in California, if not the entire 
USA, anybody who has been around knows not to write-off a person driving an 
old pick-up as not being wealthy...as there are too many wealthy people who do.
