Daryl, I (and probably 99.999% of the other people on this planet) totally agree with this universal desire to be in a truely loving relationship. When I look at my parent's lives, I find I'm genuinely jealous of it: they've been married for over 30 years, own their house in Vermont, have three sons who have good jobs and an education. When times were tough for them, they toughed through it. Divorce was never an option. (And they're not terribly religious so it ain't a church thing; it's their core values.) What do I have to look forward to? I'm in a generation where nobody really cares about anyone or anything other than themselves. Alchoholism, drug use, and divorce are very common place. When the going gets tough, nobody truely expects their significant other to stick around. And the only people who aren't afflicted by the divorce/booze/drugs/self-first problem seem to be the religious fundamentals who completely give up any sense of free thought or individuality. (Sort of damned if you do and damned if you don't.) When my parents got married it was for life; when I get married I have to hope that I got a good enough pre-nup plus wonder what the state's divorce laws might be if I lose the coin toss determining whether my marriage makes it or not. I find it all very depressing. - John ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- __)) "Glass ceilings?
