I've recently moved back into this area from Dallas, where I met a number
of people via the dfw.singles newsgroup.  I found that meeting regularly,
at least once a week or so, helps develop a sense of community.

Down there, we tended to meet every Friday evening to do -something-, such
as a bookstore, or play darts, or eat, or whatever.  It works really well,
and I met a number of very nice people, and made some real friends there.

I don't know how things work up here in this group, but I -hope- this is
more than just a discussion group.  You -do- get together, I hope.  When's
the next gathering?

The thing is, a newsgroup is not the best way to find a mate.  OTOH, a
newsgroup can be a great way to meet people, especially in a group
gathering, as there's less of a chance for trouble and this fact tends to
bring out the lurkers.
