Warning: MOVIE SPOILERS FOLLOWING! Last night I went to see the much touted Spielburg/Lucas/Crighton movie called "Twister" (which is taking 5 out of the 12 viewing rooms in my local theater with all its hype) and it was LAME, LAME, LAME! Basically the story consists of two teams of research meterologists who chase tornados: one good and one evil. The "good" team has old cars & vans, no budget -- but lots of good everyday interesting people. The "evil" team has big money, all black cars with black tinted windows and you never get to know any of the characters other than the fact that they say "Yes, sir!" and "No, sir!". The main plot is that one of the guys on the "good" team is an ex-meterologist who wants to get his wife (also on the "good" team) to sign their finalized divorce papers. The guy, of course, brought along his new wife-to-be. And, of course, they all end up chasing tornados and, of course, the new wife-to-be turns out to be a fuddy-duddy who can't handle the stress while the old wife is a fun-loving go-getter. Of course, the guy eventually tells his bride-to-be to take a hike because he wants to stay with his old wife now that they've chased tornados together again. Of course, there are very predictable side plots where you get to meet side characters like an Aunt who has a personality. Predictably she gets zapped by a tornado. Of course, the guy with his old wife go into the Aunt's wreched house to pull her out thus predictably saving here life before the building was going to collapse on her. As usual, the "good" guys win through their superior skills and hoaky gut instincts; while the "bad" guys can only follow the "good" guys and make their progress only through copying the "good" guys. Other than some good special effects, this was one truely LAME, predictable Hollywood-following-a-formula movie. That is, it was a twister movie without a twist! :^) - John ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- __)) "Glass ceilings?
