Re: linh tu and Robert R's postings Rich life - this is much more interesting to me than riches. To a point. The point being, I do like my habits of eating meals and sleeping in a reasonably nice house. (mine's considered a starter house. Nice doesn't mean a mansion, or even close.) Both of you seem to me to have or be acquiring what I look for in friends - your own center. You have things that are important, values, self-knowing. You stand on your own - even though you are poor, Robert, I would imagine you're not waiting for someone to pick up your bills. In this case, poor does not mean "oh I overspent all my credit cards and have zillions of bills so I'm asking mom to take me in again"... it means you have chosen to do something in your life that gives you satisfaction and earns a living, but does not give you funding for fancy cars or a $500,000 home or weekends in foreign countries at whim. Is this supposition right? This perhaps goes under the heading of ... maturity. The self-responsibility that distinguishes an adult from a child. And the ability to take what is important seriously, from making sure the world is a better place by doing what you can do, to taking the time to find pure joy in walking outside on one of those perfect days and finding that all the buds on the cherry tree are open and scenting the air. Both what is monumental, and what might be overlooked. And to all the guys who are so freaked out about relationships... all of you who think every woman's after only certain things... all you people hiding behind your masks so noone can get to you again... here's a comment: Looking at the future I want to go around your hairline with a putty knife, pull up the edges convince you it's safe. Meanwhile, days pass, weeks, months... not much changes but the seasons. My house needs painting. Cleaning. It fills with more junk. I'm out shopping, buying nearly anything. Last week I bought groceries three times so nothing would permanently junk up my life. But things keep arriving. Ads stack up on the kitchen table. Motivation low, I watch things accumulate, and the cats shed, their fur binding the piles into something solid. You claim you're searching for me, or someone at least, looking at me with skittish eyes, considering endings even before we start. Just thinking about it I get tired. It's that same deal all over. You with the clay face. Me with the putty knife - knowing it never works. --W 22Mar95 rev 10May96

W: You have it down well. You want to see something else -- go over to rec.pets.cats and pull up the draft of an editorial I wrote; search for the thread "TX Teens: What Was Taken By The East Bernard Seven". Bob --
