I don't know about older rabbits, but on the '82 the CAT (or OXS)
light comes on after x000 miles, no matter what is happening with
the perverter.
By the way, I've had my new rabbit since march 2, and have been
averaging 115 miles per day of driving since then, and I am very
pleased with the car.  (I owned two bugs previously, one of which
I still have).
