A postdoctoral position is available as of August 1994 in the Biochemical Pathology Section, Laboratory of Pathology, National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. The Biochemical Pathology Section investigates the molecular mechanisms of tumor cell-matrix interactions and host cell interactions with human pathogens. The objective of the available position is to use molecular and cell biological approaches to examine the function of the adhesive glycoprotein thrombospondin in regulating tumor growth, cell motility, and induction of angiogenesis. Both in vitro and animal models to study tumor cell growth, invasion, and metastasis are available. Applicants should have a doctoral degree in Biochemistry or Molecular or Cell Biology, have less than 3 years postdoctoral research training, and preferably have experience in site directed mutagenesis and mammalian expression vectors.
