Seems that there are a fair number of Internet sites that still don't grok .edu and .com addresses for sites that are not physically on the Internet (i.e. they don't query a name server or pass messages to somebody else). Has some sort of a deadline been set? No. No deadline has been set. As a matter of fact the methodology for properly handling name server mail records for non-internet hosts was rather recently redefined and still has at least one degenerate case in it. I'd expect expect this to be a rather hot topic at the Internet Engineering Task Force meeting in Palo Alto next week. -Ron
