    The problem is that public libraries (especially local, but even 
metropolitan) are woefully deviod of these references.  I used to spend 
lots of time using the Philadelphia Free Library's card-catalog computers 
to no avail.  The only place I've been able to find any good papers is in 
company libraries, my ACM subscriptions, or occasionally in a university's 
library.  In short, it's a real pain in the ass to find something which
wasn't mailed to me.   * Where should I be looking?! *

ps:  Most of the literature I'm looking for is contained in papers already
published by the ACM and the rest in books, so it's not THAT obscure.
