I would like to propose a new attitude to languages and language
research called "langnosticism". The langnostic avoids religious
arguments in favor of reasoned response, and, in particular, avoids
such terms as b*lls*it and f*ck when responding to others postings.
This attitude can be contrasted with "evangelical languianity", in
which the poster feels compelled either to push *a* particular
language as the one, true path to salvation, or to deride someone
else's language as being a heretical devation from the Word.

Seriously, folks, there are too many interesting issues in language
research to allow the discussion to degenerate into name-calling.

I have taken to calling myself an "ideologist" (as opposed to "ideologue")
but unfortunately the name of the subject ("ideology") is already
being used...

And no, I'm not a Common Lisp ideologue either - I just want to make
sure that it is criticized on valid rather than invalid grounds...
