I am intrigued by B. Silver's recent book, Meta Level Inference,
describing the PRESS (PRolog Equation Solving System) and LP
(Learning PRESS) systems.

Are either of these distributed, hopefully at a cost within the
means of an individual?  I have no Prolog system available, but
am interested in reading examples both of equation solving
systems and of non-trivial Prolog programs.
