I have had problems with the Defender cartridge also.
After playing for about 30 minutes it usually freezes up.
Also I have noticed that it runs hotter than any other
cartridge. One thing you might try is to remove the cover
on the cartridge, and cram something in the door swith so
that you can leave the door open.
