** My father just bought a scanner and I told him that I may be able to find out the correct frequencies for listening to railroad type conversations. I am interested in the numbers for the Phila., PA and all areas between Phila. and N.Y.C. Thanks, Rick

The book covers the states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont. I would suspect that if any of the listed railroads travel through Pennsylvania they would use the same frequency they use in other states. Baltimore & Ohio: 160.230, 160.320, 160.530 Bangor & Aroostook: 160.230, 160.320, 160.440 Belfast and Moosehead Lake: 160.710, 161.385 Boston & Maine: 160.230, 160.350, 161.160, 161.250, 161.310, 161.370, 161.400, 161.520 Consolidated: 160.590 Conway Senic: 161.250 Deleware and Hudson: 160.320, 160.500, 160.590, 161.400, 161.490 Erie Lackawanna: 160.290, 161.370, 161.400, 161.520, 161.550 Fore River: 160.215 Genesse & Wyoming: 160.500, 160.590 Grand Trunk Communications: 160.770, 160.935, 161.040 161.205, 161.415 Long Island: 160.380, 160.455, 160.725, 160.830, 161.265, 161.385, 161.445 161.535 Maine Central: 160.620, 161.250 Massena Terminal: 160.500 Montpelier and Barrie: 160.470 New York City: 160.485, 160.515, 160.190, 161.505 New York Susquehanna & Western: 160.485 Newford Co.: 160.875, 161.475, 161.535 Niagra Junction: 160.590 Norfolk & Western: 161.250 Northeast Corridor National Passenger: 160.800, 161.295, 161.325 Ogdensburg Bridge & Port Authority: 160.215, 160.725 Penn Central: 160.215, 160.230, 160.245, 160.290, 160.305, 160.355, 160.410, 160.530, 160.560, 160.800, 160.980, 161.070, 161.130, 161.220, 161.280, 161.325, 161.550 Portland Terminal: 160.620, 161.250 Providence & Wooster: 160.290, 160.650, 161.100 St. Johnsbury & Lamoille County: 160.230, 161.340 South Brooklyn: 160.845, 161.565 South Buffalo: 161.190, 161.280 Vermont: 160.290, 160.710 Wolfeboro: 160.575 -- Jim Roche University of Rochester Computer Science Department Rochester, NY 14627 ARPA: roche@rochester.arpa UUCP: rochester!roche

I am particularly interested in EJ&E, Burlington Northern, and C&NW in the western suburbs. When I bought my scanner, there was an advertisement for Betty bearcat's guide. Does anyone know if this is as good as the Rail Scanner guide that I've seen advertised in Trains magazine? Dave Mitchell
