I will try to withhold my skepticism about the validity of this
newsgroup while I ask a few questions.

First, do they still call the sport "spelunking"?

Second, what is the motivation for exploring caves? Adrenalin?
Adventure? Claustrophilia?

Third, how many of you are there, really? It doesn't seem like
there are that many caves in the U.S. and Canada.

Fourth, does a typical exploration require much technical rock climbing?

P.S. I'm not skeptical about the sport, I'm skeptical about the
number of people to whom this newsgroup would be useful, so please
don't assume these are hostile questions.
