use?  I know of two instances only:

Incidentally, doesn't XXIII imply the fact that it is ordinal? i.e., 
	XXIII	=  23rd
	XXIIIrd =  23rdrd
This is what I learned in school, but that was in Europe.  Is it
different here in North America?
