Hello people; I was browsing the California Government web pages earlier, and came across a few very interesting bits of pending legislation. Rather than annotate them directly with obviously biased commentary, I have decided to post them in several relevant newsgroups, verbatum, instead. They were culled from a search of all pending legislation containing the word "computer" (106 hits, 5 of which were especially germane to net folks). If you have an interest in government regulation of the internet, these might make informative (tho a bit dry) reading. In following posts: Assembly Bills 295, 871, and 1734, and Senate Bills 926 and 1034. Read carefully and watch the legalese; the truly interesting ramifications are not necessarily spelled out. If you want more information, check out the CA Government WWW pages, at www.ca.gov. Should you decide that your representatives need "guidance" or input on support (or lack of) for these bills, you can get his/her phone number and address (sometimes email, always snailmail) from those pages- it will even do a zip code number search for you if you don't know your district or representative. In most cases it's even a local call. cya, M2. btw- the CA government web pages are really quite slick- here's the site in URL forat for ya: http://www.ca.gov/ Shell users can use lynx: syntax is lynx http://www.ca.gov/
