I've had basically the same experience. I'm currently trying a local
provider because of some of the problems Netcom was experiencing in
the past month or so; at the Springfield, MO POP modems not answering,
which has been totally rectified in the past week. I haven't had 1
day with the local provider where everything functioned properly. The
news server is down about half the time. This morning, I can't
connect at all. If the trend continues, I'm staying with Netcom.
