After a couple of years with netcom suffering from multiple calls to get connected, unexplained hang-ups, busy signals, and worst of all agonizingly slow server response, I signed up with earthlink.net. What a difference! There are eight different numbers in my local area, four of them support K56. No busy signals so far, and an astounding improvement in the speed of accessing web pages and newsgroups. All this with the same old 28.8 modem. I only wish I had done it sooner.........

No shell and no space on the server; 2megs doesn't count. And plenty of busy signals from 6-9pm. Especially from SF. Been there, done that.

Basically in October of last year Netcom stopped updateing/upgradeing their systems. They have no intrest in the home user. And from the numbers I have seen, Netcom has gone from about 600,000 to around 500,000 users in a year, quite an accomplishment in a industry that is as fast growing as ISPs. spamenot@earthlink.net wrote in article <349CB60B.500F074A@earthlink.net>... > After a couple of years with netcom suffering from multiple calls to > get connected, unexplained hang-ups, busy signals, and worst of all > agonizingly slow server response, I signed up with earthlink.net. > > What a difference!
