I have been using NETCOM for a few months now without any problems. A few days ago I installed a Enhanced IDE controller card for VESA (Promise EIDE2300Plus), thats when the trouble started. This took me a few days to figure out, but when my EIDE card is in my machine, and I try to hook up to NETCOM, I receive a "axauth5.ix.netcom" not found. I then switch to my old controller card (a generic IDE controller), and bingo, it works just fine. The EIDE card works fine for anything (such as BBS or connecting to my college), but blows up with NETCOM. The EIDE card has on-board BIOS, and reserves some space for itself in upper memory. Though I do not see how this would effect my modem (US Robotics), seeing as how the modem works fine with any other connection. I used the regular IDE controller card with Windows 3.1 and Windows 95, but then put the EIDE in the machine, and connecting to NETCOM does not work. I trimmed down the startup files (atleast for 3.1) and still with the EIDE, does not entirely connect. Any help would be appreciated.
