It also makes it possible for someone to run a "find /usr/spool/news ..."
on your news spool. Just watch that load average go up.

Most Mac/PC newsreaders cannot use NFS.

I export the trn and nn databases read-only to those users who run trn
or nn, and tell them not to run mthreads or nnmaster -- until some
consensus is reached on how thread information should be presented by
the nntp server (will there ever?). everything else goes thru NNTP.
