I am the system administrator and I was wondering if there was a way from Unix to run a daemon from rc.local that will keep a record of both the number of times that Usenet is accessed and which newsgroups are being accessed. Our Unix is a DEC 5000 Workstation which is connected to our VAX 4600 mainframe. Our VAX runs ANU-News so the daemon would have to catch anybody accessing Usenet through ANU-News as well as the normal way through trn. Sa might be what I need, but how do I massage it to get just these vital statistics.
