Regarding the 2.11 software... If I understand rightly, these ever-growing files in my admin/history.d directory are used to detect duplicate articles. Okay, but is that all they're for? Since our site is fed by only one other site, the other site would presumably filter out dups. This means I could just make these unbounded files links to /dev/null and save a bunch of space and effort. The "effort" comes from running on a not-quite Unix system, and having the expire program misbehave. I can't use it because it does things to my active file that 'rn' doesn't like. So the history files grow forever, forcing me to manually trim them. They also take lots of space which could be better used to give articles another day to live here. -- Guy Finney It's that feeling of deja-vu UUCS inc.
