News server is NCR Tower 450/32. I used the b-news2.11.19 nfs client
setup contained in the b-news kit on the SCO client.
It set up nicely, now that SCO has
symbolic links. I had to make a local mailpaths on the client.

I cannot list the articles in a news group on the SCO - client with
readnews. I believe this is caused by SCO being unable to read
NFS directorys. From the Tower, I can "cat -v" a NFS mounted directory.
On the SCO, when I "cat -v" a NFS directory, I only get a $ prompt back.
Return code is 0. READDIR not defined in defs.h. But what difference would
that make, if cat gives no output?

cat gives output on local SCO directories.

Even if SCO were to enable readdir on NFS dirs, would byte ordering be OK?

Do I need a different news reader? I hate to embark on retraining
my users for a new newsreader.

Do I need to get nntp? This 2 machine network is a small leaf site; and
news will never be much of a load. The NFS setup seemed to be just
what I needed.
