The NN newsreader has a handy `nngrab' command that finds all articles whose subject line contains a given string. E.g. `nngrab -c RCS' finds all articles mentioning RCS. Unfortunately, `nngrab -c INN' finds a lot of noise because of cancel messages, e.g.: a Wade Blomgren 1 >cancel <1hss24INNnl7@network.ucsd.edu> b Ruiz Alejandro 1 >cmsg cancel <1hk9a2INN99q@phakt.usc.edu> c Gerald Edgar 6 >>cmsg cancel <1hn75kINN436@function.mps.ohio-state.edu> d C Schittel 0 >cmsg cancel <1hprl7INNmbj@rs1.rrz.Uni-Koeln.DE> [... many other cancel messages omitted ...] y.Rich Salz 9 >>INN newbie has innd, nnrpd, trn interaction questions [... that was the first useful article ...] Perhaps INN could be changed so that it doesn't put the string `INN' in its Message-IDs; this would make it easier for subject-line-based newsreaders to find out more about INN itself. No doubt NN experts can suggest an NN-specific workaround for this problem, but the whole point is to make things easier for newcomers. Besides, if we uniformly substitute something short like `.' for `INN' in Message-IDs, just think of all the bytes we'll save!
