Help !!!

The Sysadmin that setup our Usenet system with nn left a while ago and
now we are rotating the sysadmin duties among the desing engineers. The
problem is that nn will no longer run and no one has any idea on how to
restart it. The problem is that when you run nn it say:

nnmaster has not updated database in xxx hours

We are receiving news and email so thats not the problem. I have looked
through the man pages on nn and it mentions nnmaster(8) but there is
no man page on nnmaster and there is no executable nnmaster in the same
directory as the nn executable. If anyone could give me an idea as to
how to get nn started back up it would be greatly appreciated. I am
using TIN right now and I don't really like it. And there are other
non computer people who have just figured out how to run nn, starting them
off again with tin would not be fun.

Thanks in advance

I`ve got the same problem at my site.
I`m running nn 6.4.18 on a HP9000/835 hpux 8.0
nnmaster is suid/sgrp news, news owns everything, write access to
all involved directories. My Log file contains :

Ed:,
nnmaster is not supposed to live in the same directory as the user part
of the nn distribution. It would be in the nn $LIB directory by default.
nn gurus, please correct me if I`m wrong.
I start nnmaster with options -l -r -C
(-l = unlock if locked, -r = poll every (default) 10 minutes,
-C = concistence check of the database)

I assume you would find out where nnmaster lives by searching /etc/rc,
or doing a `find / -name nnmaster -print`.
