Nice page, but I notice a typo ...

"it costs all of 1 euro (about $14.50US right now) "

Love the picture. <g>

Minor nit, on the NIN line, "...it costs all of 1 euro (about $14.50US
right now) per year." seems to be missing a zero. And 10 euro is about
$15.50 USD now. A nice page though, thank you!

The dollar has gained a little in that week. Right now,
10 EUR = 15.3935 USD.

There's a typo in the albasani link.

If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will
scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will
refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something
which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he
will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is
explained in this way. - Bertrand Russell

I use Oanda for conversion figures, because many banks and brokers also
use them. PayPal and CC companies often add a small conversion fee as
well, pushing the number up a bit.

Downside is that they seem to synchronize very slowly and it almost
seems that postings with gmail.com in their headers are also filtered
(even when not posted through GG).

I've posted testpostings in be.test with several servers:

usenet4all.se
news4us.nl
newsgroups.telenet.be
fb1.euro.net
aioe.org

Only the posting from the first one appeared almost immediately on
usenet4all.se, but after more than 10 minutes I'm still waiting for the
others to appear. All 5 postings are visible on the other 4 servers. :-?

What character set are you using? When I try posting the Euro sign,
Dialog immediately switches to ISO-8859-15. The glyph isn't in
ISO-8859-1, if memory serves.

Either that, or we could use the ISO-4217 codes for currencies. :-)

I don't recommend that; I argue against it when someone tries to sell
filtering on gmail as "filtering GG posts".  I'll have to check this out;
I hadn't noticed it. Thanks.

Second Response: I looked at 24hoursupport.helpdesk using usenet4all, and
I see posts from people flying gmail addresses in their From headers.

individual.net (nin) will only accept monies from
http://www.clickandbuy.com

Only business I've done with them is pay for individual.net for many
(4 - 5?) years, and had no problems; after joining, it's all an
automatic payment each year.

Hell if I know. I don't even see a place to configure that. I *see* your
euro sign, both in read pane and here in internal editor pane.

I think I'll currently ignore that idea. :)

Sounds as though your OS supports UTF-8 (which is what slrn coded my post
as when I included the EUR character) but either Pan doesn't or your
keyboard lacks a mapping for that character. Or both, of course.

Same here. Which is a bit of a pity; the Click and Buy system seems to
work well, and here in the UK we can even 'top up' our accounts by buying
vouchers for cash in local shops. But I don't think I've ever seen Click
and Buy as a payment option on any web site I've wanted to buy stuff from,
apart from Individual.net.

I've been told it was in ISO-8859-15. I've set up Agent to use this
whenever a euro symbol is used. UTF-8 can be used as well.

Using "EUR" or "euro" would be the best thing to do indeed.

Yes, my testposting (with gmail.com address) came through as well,
unfortunately, with some delay.

The server I'm using now has a 3 to 10 seconds delay before the posting
appears. I can live with that. And while this isn't chat indeed, if
there's a (heated) discussion, then +10 minutes delay is just too much
for me.

No operators are standing by!

But wait! There's no more!

I hear you. Years ago, I used a pay server for a while that typically
took 15 or 20 minutes before an uploaded post was even available *on that
server*. For normal use, I don't care, but it made testing extremely
tedious.

I've pretty much outgrown "heated discussions".

Agreed, and that what I do.

At the risk of sounding practical, how badly can you get ripped off on
exchange values on a 10 euro purchase? The question is rhetorical.

"Shot" as in I'm a camera operator here in Hollywood.
