A network? Nothing. But not teaching or using UNIX in a business college that 
avows to prepare it's students to compete in the real world does have 
something to do with it. It is simply a matter of educational institutions 
knowing more about what a students needs than the business world he expects to 
earn his living in.

Student accounts at Rider simply do not exist as they do at most credible 
Universities. Around 5 years ago AT&T donated extensive equipment to Rider 
that was promised to incoming students for interaction with the world. This 
was later not deemed necessary due to the nature of what was 'really' 
important: to teach Lotus 1-2-3 and WordPerfect on a dos lan.

Our educational systems do not just fall apart at the primary level.  There is
also this gray area between a real University and all those others who only
pretend to teach at the secondary level.
