Actually, I wholeheartedly agree with you. There are massive problems
in our educational system here in Tulsa that start at the very top
(eg- taxmoney spent to put a new fax machine in each school board
members house as I recall) The problem is so huge that were it up to
me, I don't know where I would start.

I've been saying that for years but everytime evolution moves to claim
a lesser form, some damn social scientist sweeps the toddler up.
Of all the dumb luck.

Well, now that you mention it. Yes. That is exactly what I would tell
them.

Been there, done that and yes...even got the tattoo.

That was a different day and time to. I know resentments ran high
against longhairs on into the 70's but hippies were not portrayed to
the masses as gun-toting, gang rapeing coke dealers. (Not that I've
ever seen, heard or remembered) I can not vouche for other parts of
the country, but I have heard my guests more than once discuss the
"state of americas youth". Knowing their views, I'm not about to hire
on a person that is visually in complete contridiction to my guests
desires.

I've tried this in times past. Back when I was a nice person, I would
give a young ragamuffin every opertunity. Over the years though, I've
started to notice I'm getting shit on more and more. Now if I try to
gently point out to a person under about the age of 20 that thier
appearance is not quite suitable for job interviewing, I get a wave of
attitude back. I listened to two girls at small shop on Cherry St.
a few days ago bitching and moneing to their supervisor that they
didn't want to clean the baseboards. When the supervisor reminded them
that was everybodys job- one said with a snitty little attitude- " If
you fire me I'll tell my dad that I quite because you tried to molest
me". This girl could not have been more than about 17 or so. If I
was guessing she didn't want the job in the first place and daddy,
trying to be a good parent, was trying to teach her the value of
working. So much for that, even when a parent tries, according to this
senario, they fail.

No, haven't you heard. Usenet and all 30K+ groups exist soely for the
purpose of giving Demming a pulpit.
