The kids wearing the : "baggy pants" are on drugs. Why do you think they wear them -- it's a : dress code language for drugs! You obviously wear baggy pants and have been testing this theroy out on local school lots. I mean, since you can not state any formal studies that show this "relationship" it is from your own detailed research into the subject. Or... could it possibly be that you are a bigitoted closed minded moron who posts before he thinks? Since I have no visual from which to go by I can't associate your posting to your dress code, so I have to associate it to the ravings of someone who has no concept of reality. : Do you live on a farm or do you have "tunnel vision?" Do you keep : looking straight ahead when you should be looking around and observing? Observation? I suggest that you watch a piece of a movie (I think the entire film might be over your head) called _The Paper Chase_. In it John Houseman, as a law professor, runs a small study to show that the "powers of observation" suck. You see what you want to see, focus on what you want to focus on, and filter everything through a personal set of filters that can cause you to "miss" things. Observation sucks. : Or, are you a parent in 'denial?' Just go take a look and see who's : using the drugs. Make the school uniform mandatory and the druggie kids : might have a difficult time spotting each other! When I was in school we all wore jeans and T-shirts. We didn't need a "sign" to know who the dopers were any more than we did to know who the jocks were. Dopers know dopers, jocks know jocks, geeks know geeks. It's the laws of nature. People will go where they feel most comfortable, and in general that means that water will reach it's own level... or in simple terms for the simple minded... dopers will end up finding dopers because they share common "threads" in life. : The children, and the : schools systems are in BIG trouble today. And people like you, who don't : want to get involved or make changes, are the reason. Wake up! You just see a conclusion and you just jump right on it. If PARENTS took responsibility to teach their kids ethics and values schools could go back to teaching the basics. The schools are in trouble because the parents have stopped parenting. : > I know many Ph.Ds who can't spell that great either, two of which worked : > for NASA. : That figures! Did they work on the "Challenger" project? That's the : problem -- you are trying to "mask" -- because its already here -- : Ph.D's who cannot spell. Give me a break! How do you become a Ph.D. if : you cannot spell? Okay dipshit, I can't spell. I'm dyslexic. I also have many article to my credit (in Web Developer magazine) and I have a book by Prentice Hall published (CGI Developer's Resource: Web Progamming in Tcl and Perl). Now I may not be a PhD, but I have got more experience writing than you do by far, and let me state clearly... I CAN'T SPELL. It doesn't mean I'm stupid, it's just not a skill that I have been able to develop. Now, considering that I have actually made a living from writting, what do you have to say about spelling being a "requirement" or a measure of education now? Educations isn't about spelling. It is about learning. First you provide a kid with the basics (grades 1-6) and then you spend the next six years teaching them how to learn and introducing them to new ideas and concepts (this is called broadening their horizens). Only a fool can limit "education" to some silly ass skill set. : Well I'll just judge the merits of your comments on how successful the : "Challenger" project was, OK? Challenger's failure had nothing to do with spelling than the Arian rocket or the Long March(?). I suggest that you attempt to get some education on the subjects you post on. Your posts make you appear to be the 7 year old kid of someone who has access to the net. Just because you think you have come to a conclusion doesn't mean you have to jump to it. Try reasoned study. Read a book or two on the subject. jmi
