Auto Insurance recommendations needed

I'm looking to insure a 1993 Saturn SL2.  I've one accident (2 years
ago), and 2 points on my license.  I'm 22 years old, male, and live in
a suburban area.  I've seen quotes as high as $4500 per year!  Can
anyone recommend a good (affordable) insurance company, or is that an
oxymoron?

I'm currently with NJ Manufacturers Insurance under my parents'
policy, and looking to move off onto my own policy.  I have the August
92 Consumer Reports which has a very good article on insurance.  In
fact they list NJ Manufacturers as one of the cheapest, but I'm not
sure they'd take me on as a customer by myself.

Any pointers at all appreciated.
