Witnesses to car accident

I was involved in an accident on Washington Road, Piscataway,
just south of the Shoprite shopping center, and need any
one who witnessed the accident to get in touch with me.

I was driving a black 1981 Ford stepside pickup southbound, following
a small beige sedan. The sedan slowed down abruptly to turn left
into the dairy; and I was not able to stop in time to avoid
hitting her.

Please contact me at (908) 463-3273.

My wife let's me think my opinions are my own. Bellcore doesn't care
either way, and doesn't claim them anyway...

Why were you not able to stop? Were you following too closely? If he
was directly in front of you before he slowed down, it was your fault.

What does this have to do with anything? Who cares whose fault it is. The guy
just wants witnesses to step forward.

Unless there are extraneous circumstances - The car in front
was actually in reverse, The car in front suddenly had a
major catastrophic break down that cause it to dead stop (as
a "unatural fashion), IT WILL BE NEAR IMPOSSIBLE to - prove
the car in front was at all at fault. In 99% of the cases, as
Tom brought up, it comes down to that the car in back could not
stop in time due to a combination of the following.

		Following to close
Tailgating - the extreme of the first
Mechanical inadequency - bad brakes or tires
And the old - Just not paying atention

If the driver of the car in back could disprove the above
and have a plethora of witnesses proving the driver in front
did something totally and I mean totally stupid, I'm sorry
to say the driver in back doesn't stand a chance.

By the way did I say this only my opinion and not
my employers. And my opinions are just that, they
are not by any means making any legal precedent and
may not even be based on fact.

Bingo. Thank you. Next time you (original poster) -- or anyone else --
are following me too closely, and I start to tap my breaks, and you
continue to tailgate me, and I slow down to the speed limit or lower,
you'll know why. As another poster said, there is little or no excuse
for rear-ending someone. You are responsible for keeping control of
your vehicle -- what if a child had run out in front of the driver in
front of you?

I see far too many accidents caused by that kind of driving. If you
can't stop in time, you're driving too close.
