Unisys SVT-1120 on Linux box? Not likely.

Here in alt.os.linux.slackware, Aschwin van der Woude
<aschwin@flatnet.demon.nl> spake unto us, saying:

>Can you tell me what to do with my terminal?

>I have three Unisys svt-1120 terminals here, but I cannot get them up on

I strongly suspect that you won't be able to get those working with Linux.

SVT-1120 terminals are block-mode terminals which roughly emulate a Unisys
UTS-20 terminal (normally two PIDs in 80x25 or one PID in 132x25), and
which are VERY different from things like a VT100 (Uniscope-like devices
use a fairly nice but use highly proprietary screen control, and send the
entire screen at once when the XMIT key is hit, not one character at a
time like a Unix system would expect).

You might want to check in comp.sys.unisys to see if there's any chance at
all, but my own guess is there isn't a prayer without installing a layer
of very fancy protocol-translation software.

I generally use UTS emulators like PEP or QTerm to talk to the mainframes
at work (UTS-20 or UTS-40), but I have an SVT-1126 sitting on my desk at
the moment at work which I use as a console for monitoring one of our
production 2200's, and my impression is they are extremely nonstandard in
their behavior.
